TENS application for forearm pain

Woman holds her forearm because of pain, which can be treated with a TENS device

Forearm pain is a fairly common complaint these days, mostly in the right forearm in right-handed people and in the left forearm in left-handed people. The complaints and tension are mostly caused by one-sided stress caused by repetitive, monotonous movements. An example of this is the mouse arm, which was named for the constant, monotonous movement of the computer mouse.

Forearm pain usually manifests itself as a stabbing, pulling or tearing pain that occurs as a result of strain and movement of the arm. There are various possible causes of the pain. For example, shortening and stiffening of the connective tissue, muscles, tendons and fascia can be responsible. The pain can also be caused by bruises, strains, sprains, tendonitis or muscle fiber tears. Chronic pain in the forearm often indicates signs of wear.

With a TENS device it is possible to relieve the pain. We will show you how to attach the electrode pads for use on the forearm and which program we recommend for forearm pain.

The electrical impulses of the stimulation current device interrupt the transmission of pain via the nerves to the brain, which can result in pain relief in the affected area of the forearm. Furthermore, TENS electrotherapy can support the release of endorphins[1], an endogenous pain reliever, and also promote blood circulation[2].

TENS electrode placement for forearm pain

For pain relief from forearm pain, we recommend our TENS EMS combination device STIM-PRO X9, which has more than 35 pre-installed programs and 4 channels.

Place the electrodes on your forearm as shown in the picture. We recommend the 5x5cm electrodes, which can be used universally for a variety of TENS and EMS applications.

Please note when using TENS:

The intensity should be adjusted so that it is felt as a pleasant tingling sensation. The duration of the application should be approx. 40 minutes in order to be able to achieve a lasting reduction in pain. It also makes sense to switch programs every now and then.
