Tape your wrist with kinesiology tape

A man's wrist is stabilized with kinesiology tape

The advancing digitization ensures that a large part of the population works on the computer or uses a smartphone for several hours every day. These movements, eg clicking with a computer mouse, are often very monotonous and often lead to tension and discomfort in the wrist during the movement.

Using kinesiology tape can help you increase wrist mobility. The taping of the wrist also gives it stability, which means that everyday movements can be more comfortable.

If you have tension in your wrists, not only will everyday life become more difficult, but also the exercise of sporting activities. Sports such as tennis or going to the gym are usually not enjoyed as much as they would be without symptoms. In practice, the wrist is also more often bandaged with kinesiotape to stabilize it and maintain mobility.

  • Tape wrist: Step 1

Take the first I-tape, which you measure beforehand so that it does not completely wrap around your wrist.

Hyperextend your wrist by pulling the back of your hand up.

Now first apply the kinesiology tape to your pulse with a medium pull and stick the two ends around the wrist without overlapping the two ends of the tape.

  • Tape wrist: Step 2

Take the second I-tape, which should be about 25 cm long.

Fold your wrist down and apply the tape to the outer (or upper) forearm, reaching just below the beginning of the elbow.

The tape should be applied with medium tension.

  • Tape wrist: Step 3

Apply the third I-tape similarly to the first tape, but with the wrist folded, start on the back of the hand and tape the two ends around the wrist.

Finally, rub the tape strips on your wrist and forearm several times to activate the adhesive through the frictional heat and allow the full adhesive effect of the tape to unfold on the wrist.

Tips for using kinesiology tape

Round off the corners

Before taping, round off the edges with scissors so that the corners don't peel off so easily. You don't need to do this with pre-cut kinesiology tapes because the corners are already rounded

Stroke the tape several times

After you have applied the tape, rub the tape several times to activate the adhesive

Clean skin

Make sure your skin is dry and clean before taping.

It is advisable to shave the area beforehand when using it with thicker hair, so that the kinesiology tape holds better and it is easier to remove after use.

Creases on the tapes during use are normal

It is normal and intended that waves may form on the tape after application during muscle relaxation. These are even intended and are called convolutions.

To ensure the compatibility of the kinesiology tape with your skin, we recommend that you test a small piece of tape on the skin in advance and leave it there for about 30 minutes.

If you experience itching or an allergic reaction, remove the Kinesiology Tape and stop using it.
